What is Dropshipping

Dropship is a kind of supply chain management method whereby the retailers do not keep the stock but they sell goods directly to the prospective customers from the manufacturers or wholesalers. This means that the seller purchases goods from third party and sell them direct to the customers without storing them to the stores. In this case, sellers make profit from the difference between the wholesale/manufacturer price and the retail price. Also, other sellers/retailer earn profit from the agreed percentage of the sales commission which is paid by the wholesaler or the manufacturer.

Where to Find Training

Dropshipping training is mostly provided by online course providers who offer drop shipping courses. People can train online by registering with online training providers. Also, there are educational institutions which offer training such as Chinabrands University. There are many websites where the training can be found, such as drop shipping plus Facebook plus masterclass website, AliExpress Dropship course, Anwasee Affiliate, among others.

Advantages of Dropshipping

Less capital is required to operate a dropshipping business. This is because there no purchase and storage of stock but the retailers need to pick the goods from manufacturers and sell directly to the customers. There is low overhead since there is no purchasing inventory or managing warehouse, and hence the expenses are minimal. Flexible location because the business can be run from anywhere. As long as the retailer can communicate with suppliers and customers appropriately, the business can be managed easily.

Disadvantages of Dropshipping

Low margins due to the high level of competition. Since the business is easy to get started and there is low overhead, many people are likely to set up their shops and sell items at a low price in an attempt to grow revenue, and thus there is low-profit margin. Dropshipping business is associated with shipping complexities. If the drop shipper work with many suppliers, the commodities on their website will be sourced through different retailers which in turn complicates the shipping costs.  There are inventory issues due to lack of stores. Drop shippers are not able to keep track of which items are in and out of stock.

Conclusion

It is worth noting that dropshipping is a low capital venture which has attracted many people in the world. However, the business needs intensive connection and interaction with customers to establish a strong market base. The business, however, is not a perfect and stress-free way to establish a successful business. Perhaps, the model has some definite benefits, but it comes with a number of complexities and challenges which need to be addressed.
